I picked up a PS3 over the holidays and got down to playing some uncharted 1. I figured I would give the first game a whirl before grabbing the second one. I have to say its a lot of fun except for one thing that made me want to throw my controller through my television.
The motion controls for doing things in the game are totally garbage. Its almost as if someone from the marketing department said “We need to have six axis support in our game” and to which the developers replied “Oh ok well throw these stupid ass logs in the game and force you to throw grenades with the motion controls”.
This is a really handy weapon comparison chart for Modern Warfare 2. Everything you ever wanted to know about the damage and damage multipliers for damage locations. This is really useful for comparing the weapons against each other.
I love playing with shotguns. I’ve still not unlocked the 1887’s but they’re getting hit with the nerf bat next patch so we’ll leave those for another time. What I have done though is gotten my ass kicked a lot using the other three. For a comparison of the AA-12, SPAS-12 and the striker read on!
So I started using the riot shield because I was dying a lot. I am happy to say that I’m dying a lot less than usual now, but unfortunately I’m also not killing very often. In domination and HQ matches the riot shield has helped my team secure a few victories but not in the way this absolute beast of a player does.
So I’m sure many of you have run into a situation where you got killed in a way that you didn’t think was possible. An exploding fire hydrant comes to mind for me. Well this dynamic duo has set out to bust as many MW2 myths as they can. Here is their first episode.
Lets not make any mistake. I’m really bad at Modern Warfare 2. I die a lot, I miss a lot, I curse a lot but at least I can say I’ve never had my own missile lock onto me and blow me up.
So after playing some oldschool Syndicate via DosBox I decided to play some more Modern Warfare 2. One of my favourite weapons is the claymore. Plant them on the ground, wait for someone to walk by and they explode and kill someone most of the time.
Lets face it, I can’t aim worth a damn. What I can do is place bombs in awesome locations that mess people up. To pull this off all you basically need is to find a location that has 2 or fewer entrances. See an example in the following video.
Syndicate was such a great game. I remember spending far to many hours researching new weapons, outfitting my guys with new armor and most importantly unleashing hell on earth which was officially known as the gauss gun. The game had many elements that you still see today. The mission based level design is strikingly similar to the quest systems that are so popular now.
The thing I really liked about Syndicate was that the agents weren’t stupid. Inject the right drugs into their system by hitting panic mode and they would identify friend from foe, become more accurate and engage at will. Video after the jump.
So I’m strolling along minding my own business on Scrapyard when all of a sudden blam I’m dead. Figured I either stepped on a claymore (I always do that) or some sniper got me. So I check out the kill cam and some asshole is running around with these twin terminator shotguns. Now if the guy was close to me I wouldn’t have been that upset, I was using my akimbo pistols and figured I could win just about any close quarter battle except against a lucky shotgun blast.
Unfortunately this jackass was halfway across the map. I dunno how he saw me cause I would have needed an acog scope with my brightness turned to max, but not only did he see me, but he killed me. With a shotgun. From across the freaking map. I’ve uncovered some great strategies for using these things and they go something like this.

I was trying to get the nuke the whole game and the other guys just sudden”. I promptly hit the mute button and at the same time was vaporized by the lovely tactical nuke.
